Gobal Marketing Blog Entry # 15 (25 points)

Ethics Around the World...

Females do not have full employment rights in Japan.  Japan is a patriarchal society, which is a society governed by men.  Female employees in Japan do not have the same career opportunities as male empoyees.  One female marketing representative in Japan found out that male buyers would not take her seriously.  When she hired a man to go with her, her overall sales increased.

Japan's economy faces a number of problems.  its workforce is getting older, and there are not enough young males to fill all the open jobs.  About 40 percent of Japanese women work, but only 9 percent hold management positions, compared to 45 percent of U.S. women.  Japan's economic recovery may be hindered because of Japan's social biases.

In a two paragraph response (5 sentences for each paragraph) answer the following questions.  In paragraph # 1, discuss why you think Japanese businesses do not offer equal opportunities for women.  In paragraph # 2, speculate on the loss to the Japanese economy caused by not fully utilizing its labor force.

I believe that Japanese businesses do nto offer equal opportunities to women because historically, men have always been the workers, and women have always stayed home. Even though this has obviously changed over the course of history, their are still some people that are unwilling to change. It is kind of like racism, even though the worst of racism as a whole ended a while ago, their are some people that just wont change their way of thinking. Japan has been like this for so long that it is hard for them to change.

Japan not implementing their full potential labor force is not good for their economy at all. This would be a perfect opportunity for them to start using women, because their labor force is getting older and their arent enough young men to to fill open jobs. Also it is best to get a women's perspective along with the mens when dealing with business, so their product appeals to both sexes.

I think that Japanese businesses do not offer equal expeirences for women because they think they are not equal to men. Men do not have as much respect for women in Japan, therefore in the business world they are still not respecting them. They do not think womena are capale of handling a high pressure job.

It is really bad for Japan right now because they are not using women in the workforce as much as they could, this is causing a negative impact. There are not enough young males to fill the spot so you would think that the women would step up, but in the Japan culture they do not believe in that. I find it hard to belive that JApan would rather not have enough people to work jobs while they could just have women do the jobs and do a good solid job.

i think Japanese businesses dont offer the same jobs or opportunities for woman because of culther reasons. IN some countrys they dont look at male and female the same ways. Woman might not have the same rights or job opportunities as men.

Japan is not useing the female in the counrty. If only if only 9 percent hold management positions and the rest of the workforce is getting older they are not going to be able to compare with other the U.S or china.

Women always have had limited rights in Japan. In most of the Eastern countries, women have limited rights. That's how it has been throughout the course of history. They believe that men should work and women should stay home and take care of the children.

I think they should give equal opportunities for women because the economy would be a lot better. In a lot of countries, unemployment is a big issue yet they don't give women equal opportunities. If women had equal opportunities, their economy would be a lot better because of more labor force.

Japan does not believe in the women working because they believe they are the ones who stay at home with the kids and do simple things. Women do want the same as men and are fully capable of working like them.In reality that is degrading a women. Everybody who was made on the earth deserve an equal opportunity.

Japans economy will eventually suffer becuase of their biast mindset toward women. Women and men are fully able to achieve anything because they are still humans. Men are of no difference between women, who could bring Japans popularity up b.c they are showing diverstity. Why let the economy suffer because of their crazy mindset? The economy will never grow if they do not get past their views.

Japanese men must feel that women are still not up to par to them. I guess they feel that they can do a better job then the women without even giving them a chance. Men being in the workforce only is tradition, and they are having a problem breaking from it to give women more of a chance. Its a process and women need to speak up and not allow it.

Women bring a different look into situations. Because men and women think differently, they treat situations differently. And sometimes the way a women thinks can be better then others, allowing a business to make more money.

I think Japan offers different but equal rights to women. Im guessing that the two different genders have different responsibilities. This can be based on traditional and cultural customs. Women may be expected only to be housewives and take care of a home. So respecting the quality of a womens work may be hard for men to accept.

I think the older generations are well of aware of this. Their still tied to their old customs of only the man working outside of the house. But the younger generations are more about 'rigts' and 'freedom'. This is because of all the movements in the past century have inspired people to break away from their original roots.

In the article Ethnics Around the World, I think that japanese businesses do not offer equal oppertunities for women because Japan is a patriarchal society,
which is a soceity run by men. They dont take women seriously as men and dont listen to them as much as men. It looks like most of the men their are racist against women and dont want to let women run a bussiness.
Because most of the men in Japan are in charge of a specific business and their sales increases then when a women makes business, it effects the bussiness just because of the gender of the owner. The males sales increases then a women and this can affect japanese economy. This is what i think about the loss of Japanese economy.

Japanese business do not offer equal opportunities for women because they are a patriarchal society. This is because in Japans history, they've always held the men above the women. The families are also patriarchal so it is only second nature that the business world to be also.

Japanese business is suffering because the workers that they have now are getting old. This means that they are becoming unable to work efficently. Since they dont like women holding top positions, business is going to suffer because they have incompentent people working. They should be less hard on women and let them work. Plus, women generally tend to mature faster than men which means they are more capable of making better choices.

I think Japanese businesses do not offer equal opportunities for women because their economy and people have always been like that. They think that the man should have more power, because that's what it has been like for a while now. Even though things have changed, some parts still think that this is more ethical.

If Japan used women more oftenly,it could work for them globally. If women could be main parts in a business, then other countries could respect what they're doing. And plus, it's really not fair for women to be on the sidelines for a business that they are a part of and watch the men do all of the work.

I think males and females are in competition. The males dont think that females can do what they do. Or i guess you can say that cotsomers dont take woman seriously. Which is why i think when the male came in people started coming.

I think japan is not doing well for the fact that they dont hire females that much. i think if males and females work togather it will fill all the open jobs. But if they dont japan will go down of business.

I think they do not take women serious because they think they dont know what their doing. They think men do though. They probably think women cheat there way into businesses. Back in the days women didnt have alot of rights so the japanese may stick to that. Men were always "smart" aparently to the world.

Their economy would dramactily drop. They should stop being stubborn and just fill the spaces with women. The spaces need to be filled in for teamwork. Teamwork helps economy because there is communication. If they dont take care of this now their economy isnt going to be in top shape.

I think Japanese men think women are weaker and a more lower class people than them. And even maybe stupid when it comes to business. But if a women is representative of a marketing bussiness, men wont take them seroiusly cause of there gender.

I think Japan economy had faced a problems cause there are not enough young male to fill all the open jobs that the women could be having. But in US we dont care if a women is a big CEO or owner of a company cause, we arent against the women in the work bussiness. And i think that is the main reason why japans economy is failing(based on there social bases).

Japanese women do not get equal opportunities in the business world because their society is organized differently. In America we have more woman rights which makes them more equal. In Japan the woman have always worked in the house and apparently now that they are working, men think that women are subservient to them.

Because of men not trusting women and people not taking them seriously, Japanese sales are not as high as they should be. The Japanese economy takes a huge loss for not utilizing their full labor force. Therefore other countries that do use their full labor source are getting ahead in the corporate world.

The reason womens don't get the same rspect value in employment rights is becuase, in japanese history womens have stayed home while most of th men have bin working. Its difficult for some people understand that time has changed and womens have almost the same equal rights as men. Everything is changed, and it takes time. I beleive that womens will eventually get the equal full employment rights in japan.

Japan's economic lost is mainly becuase of the busines rights not given rights to the women of japan. There work force dont can use more female labor. And when a women is in the business it takes it to another prosepective which can be a great advantage.

I think that Japanese businesses do not offer equal opportunities for women because the men do not take women seriously in their culture. Men are more dominant in there society. The men are incharge an people proboly dont like taken orders from a women. They see more results from men then they do women. They just want to keep there sales up so they go based off of the results that they get.
I think that if Japan does not fully use its labor force that there economy will go down. If there is not enough men to fill the jobs then they have to get women to fill in the spots. If they dont want to then that will just hurt there company. They wont have enough people out to represent there business. Then there sales will decrease because of that.

After reading this article,I think that Japan offers various, but equal rights among women. From growing up in Nairobi, Kenya. I can make an educated guess which leads me to think that males and females have different duties and responsibilities in that society. This goes back to the traditional era of that society and cultural customs in Japan. Womens roles in that part of the world are predominately housewives and keep the house kept, and taking care of the men in the family. Men in Japn dont respect the hard work women put in day in and day out to be classified as a good wife.

Japans economy in the upcoming years will suffer drasticly, because of the way the men treat and view women. I believe women should be given the same rights as men, because look how many hard working and strong women we have in the United states. I bet there are a big amount of women like that in Japan, and if given a chance they could really show everybody that women are more then just wasted skin and brains. There is no difference between men and women besides what's inbetween there legs, so women should get the same rights are men. if this issue keeps accummulating into more and more problems, the society of Japan will become a weaker economy and will never have the strength to be a high power.

Japan does not offer equal opportunity to women, because of their traditions and custums. Although the United States has faded from being sexist, Japan, and many other countries have not. Women play a certain role in Japan, which does not involve working. Their meant to be housewives and to care of everything but making money.

Japn is making a poor decision on not using all of it's labor force. People are getting older, and their losing a lot of workers. There are many things that a women can do, that men can't. Japan has yet to see that, but hopefully they will soon enough before their labor force vanishes.

I think that the Japanese favor the men, because men have always been seen as the hard-workers and females have only been seen as pretty much maintaining the household. Which i think thats very sexist because woman are capable of anything men can do. The japanese probably think that the women won't be able to perform the job right, or as well as men can. Japan doesn't want to change the way they do things because that's the way it has always been done.
Not using women is causing a negative effect on the Japanese economy, because there not using their labor force to their fullest. If they gave equal rights and opportunities to both males and females the Japanese economy would be much stronger.

It seems like the Japanese Businesses do not offer equal opportunities for women because they still have the old beliefs that women and men can not be equal. They believe that men work and women stay at home. That is how the rest of the world was and it takes some places longer to realize whats wrong and whats right. For the Japanese people it is taking them a lot longer. Even in the US there are still disputes and problems with women and men getting equal pay and positions.

The Japanese businesses loose a lot of worker by discriminating. There are so many jobs but so little me to fill it. if they have a low labor force that means that their product would not be thorough or perfect. That means that they loose business and sales go down. That all adds up the economy going down.
