Marketing One Blog Entry # 5 (25 points)

From Wikipedia...

"Digital Marketing is the practice of promoting products and services using digital distribution channels to reach consumers in a timely, relevant, personal and cost-effective manner.

While digital marketing does include many of the techniques and practices contained within the category of Internet Marketing, it extends beyond this by including other channels with which to reach people that do not require the use of The Internet. As a result of this non-reliance on the Internet, the field of digital marketing includes a whole host of elements such as mobile phones, sms/mms, display / banner ads and digital outdoor.

Previously seen as a stand-alone service in its own right, it is frequently being seen as a domain that can and does cover most, if not all, of the more traditional marketing areas such as Direct Marketing by providing the same method of communicating with an audience but in a digital fashion. Digital is now being broadened to support the "servicing" and "engagement" of customers".

Watch the following 3 minute Advertising Age video about Digital Marketing and it's impact on adolescents.

Age groups are now harder to target because advertising isn't only on TV anymore, it's also on the internet. With everything that's on the internet, adolescents are at a big risk of finding negative advertising. Just like the woman in the video said, when adolescents see something that says "don't," they might actually want to do it. Ads on phones and banner ads are no different. I feel that digital advertising is just as effective, if not more effective, than older ways of advertising.

My thoughts about the digital marketing having an impact on adolescents are really eye-opening. In my opinion, I do think that there are some impacts on adolescents in some way like risky things that's not really appropriate for a young age. I think companies are trying their hardest to be safe and not risky with their ads if ever it comes across to an adolescent who might take the ad in a wrong way. I feel that the strategies use for digital marketing is an easier way to get something out there in the public. It's something to be careful about it's a good strategy to post it up on the internet and on the televisions.

I feel that digital marketing can harm adolescents but it doesn't unless the adolescent goes to something that is innapropriate. It impacts teens in a negative way if they do get exposed to digital marketing. Many marketing techniques in digital marketing are more geared toward adults.
The companies are putting teens at risk with digital marketing but they do not care. THey only care about their business.

I think that digital marketing is veey good to companies that want to advertise something. Sometimes digital marketing is not good. It is good because the companies can advertise their products to people with cell phones and other digital devices. I thnik that some digital marketing stategies may be putting adolecents at risks but some are not. Also i think that if you have a business you have to sometimes take some risks.

Adolescents are effected by these ways of digital advertising. I say there should be some type of firewall for these advertisements. The types of digital marketing can get very annoying, but are effective in a way that grabs adolescents attention. Adolescents should try and keep away from such adervertisements because they may be inapropriate.

I think that digital marketing on adolescents is good because they woould pay even more attention. They are not putting them at risk because it is just advertising more advanced. I think that the marketing strategies are good because it catches people's attention quicker than other advertising.

I think the idea of digital marketting is a really good idea. Kids and Toddlers are the ones that watch tv the most nowadays because they dont have that pressure on them that people older than them do. Teenagers and adults have school, college, lives, careers, family, and etc to take care of and they don't have much time to spare anymore. Since they're so busy and always on the go, they are obvisouly going to have a phone with them. Teenagers always have their phone on them or near that. Some teenagers even put their phone under their pillow so when it vibrates they can pick it up and text right away. So advertising digitaily allowes teenagers to get the new insight on the new products and/or companies that are coming out. T.v. ads dont really affect teenagers nowadays. They also don't want to advertise on little kids because if they had an ad about not smoking, Kids would want to at least try it out and no one wants that.

I think the Adolecents are a little quicker to catch on to things. Maybe little kids still can get there brains washed with the digital advertising but not teenagers.I feel that there tecniques are not a threat to me. It could be a danger though for others who are easily influenced to buy things.I hope these digital advertise ments dont cross the line with the adolecents.

In an age where all advertisements are digital, the risk for adolescents to see something they shouldn't is higher. I think that children that see ads that discourage bad behavior are more likely to now do it becuase they are aware of what it is. Now that digital advertising has changed from TVs, to internet, to even phones it is harder to minimize what adolescents see. Adolescents have grown up in a society that relies on technology, they use it in their everyday lives. Advertisements that may not be meant to be seen by an adolescent can be found and it is hard for them to control what they see. However, even with the risk for adolescents, digital advertisements continue to prove their effectiveness because of the millions of people that are seeing them everyday.

I think that digital marketing is good for advertising and promoting products and services. I also feel that this is a good way to get an adoloscents attention and actually keep it. I know that a lot of teens are into risky and unsafe things, so this is a way to keep the teens from taking it the bad way and doing something stupid, but also promoting their buisnesses.

Digital media has a big impact on adolescents today. Adolescents are more susceptible to marketing strategies because they feel pressured to fit in. Although it is a form of marketing and there is nothing illegal about it, playing on adolescents' weaknesses is still wrong. Because of these new strategies, the tobacco companies can stay within the law and target young adolescents at the same time. I don't like the new strategies companies are using to target adolescents, but the choice is still up to the consumer on whether they purchase the product/service or not, and the adolescent is the one who has the final say in the matter.

Digital marketing is just another way to market to a cetain target group. I think that it another way for companies to keep in touch witht he generation. I do not think that this type of advirtising is harmful to adolescents. I think that in order for companies to be able to continue selling they have to look at new advenues. I think that the only harm thaat could be done would be the annoyance of these techniques.

I think that the affect of digital marketing on adolescents is pretty shocking. I agree that when a commercial, for example "truth" commercials, tells someone that they should not do something (smoking), then it makes adolescents want to do it even more. On the other hand, it is a very effective way to advertise, since people nowadays are technically advanced and it can be a very effective way to get your product or service across. This can be done through the Internet, television, radio, cell phones, e-mail, and many other ways.

I think it wouldn't impact on the digital marketing, because in everyday life, people want new items to buy and see if they like it. It is also a good way to interact with customers and get to know their interests. I like the way digital marketing is showing the strategies.

Digital Markering is good because more people have acess to things like cell phones, internet, and cable T.V

One of the things that havs become difficult to target any specific type of group, so they have to risk and hope they get the croud that they hope to promote to, or you can always try many other different ways at the same time, that will never fail ! Other things like "Don't do . . so and so", think that might ve a false statement because not all teenagers are dumb enough to actually do something that they know might effect them in the long run .

Before, advertising wasn't as effective as it is in the mordern day because most people didn't get things people advertised on. Most advertising was done through posters and the radio. A lot of companies had to rely on word of mouth more. Today, people could find out about something with the send of a text message, and a lot of people will know. Or they might see an ad through a pop-up on the internet or a comericial on T.V

Advertising has come a long way since companies started using them. Now we are on the digital marketing level where commercials are presented digitally. This is great because people don't have to watch tv or get on the internet to view advertisements. This means that we can view them via mobile phones, sms/mms, dispaly/banner ads and digital outdoor. This improves the ability of people buying more goods because commercials are seen everywhere these days.

I feel that Digital Marketing can be distractive to adolescents since that's going to their target group. Beside texting doing class and than getting caught while texting the same idea is going to apply when the phone vibrates letting them know about a new product that a company has come up with.Even though teenagers are more likely to get the idea how a digital stuff work than most adults ,it's going to affect them more then the people older and younger than them.It can be a postive thing since you don't have to watch commercial on tv but than it's going to have a negative turn when distraction becomes an issue and kids get carried away.
