A Matter of Ethics...

From Wikipedia...

"Business ethics is a form of applied ethics that examines ethical principles and moral or ethical problems that arise in a business environment. It applies to all aspects of business conduct and is relevant to the conduct of individuals and business organizations as a whole."
Read the following business/selling ethics scenario.

Sealing a Deal...

A software firm in a medium-sized city has been growing, in part thanks to its popular sports-based video games.  The company has decided to sell stock and become a publicly traded company.  It can use the money it raises to fund new research and development, but it will have to meet a lot of new accounting requirements.  The people who own the company stock will want complete information about the company's financial performance.

Pitching and Wooing...

Accounting firms in the city are desperately trying to get the contract with the software company.  They treat executives and software designers to expensive dinners and tickets to NBA games.  One company is so determined to win the contract that it makes a secret offer to one of the senior executives.  It promises to hire the executive's daughter, who recently graduated from college, but has been having trouble getting a job.

In a two paragraph response (a minimum of 5 sentences for each paragraph), answer the following questions.  In paragraph # 1, discuss the role of ethics in business and how important you think ethics are to a company's success.  In pargraph # 2, discuss how far you think a company can go to win over a potential customer.

Ethics is important for businesses because it affects how consumers see the business. Without ethics, cunsumers may start to see a business as somewhat of a monster. Ethics are kind of a code of honor for businesses to follow. It is a system of "unsaid" rules that help form healthy competition while keeping it from turning into negative competition.

In order to "woo" a customer, the company should go as far as need be, while staying ethical. By this, they should make pitches to potential customers and make themselves available for information, but it would be unethical to lie about a product in order to sell it or such other instances like that.

Ethics is important to a company success. Without ethics it would be hard for company's to make good business without ethics. It allows the business to understand the customer more and gives them a better chance to sell their product.

Companies will do anything to win over a customer. All companies want to do is make a profit and to make a profit, they'll do just about anything legal.

Ethics plays a major role in business. If theres no ethics there is no business. Ethics Is what keeps businesses strong and running.

Companys could go so far for a good customer. They can offer discounts offer deals. Theres free memberships, and all other kinds of offers. As a business owner you have to take every customer you can get to be really successful.

I think that it is important to maintain a sense of personal ethics in business because it will help people believe in your company and you as person. If you don't, eventually everything will come back to haunt you. Just look at Enron.

The most important thing to have from a customer is not respect or their money. It's trust. If you have their trust in you, your company, or your product, everything else will fall into place.

Business ethics are applied when dealing with the conflicts that occur in a business environment. Business ethics are important because the company needs to find away to prevent such problems. They are important to businesses because the problems tend to help them out in the long run when they are solved. According to the scenario this is an example of business ethics preventing problems to present a better business environment. The more problems they can resolve the better the companies will be.

Companies strive to win over a potential customer. They use their sales skills to grab the customers attention. When I went to get a guitar from alexandria music one time, I was very interested in this one and the employee helping us out said there was another family that wanted to buy it. I think that could have been a lie just to get us to buy. Salesmen tend to do this a lot in order to really pull the consumer in. When such sales are made, this can really bring the company up in the market.

I believe that it is a very important tool to use ethics in the bussiness world. Those who run a bussiness need to look at certain key factors before making an excutive decisons. You have to be aware at morals or principles that could be broken by a decison. What ever is done will effect the name and well being of your company, but also those who reside with your company.

I think that you want to win over the customer instead of buying them. Do not offer something that is exspensive to get their bussiness. I think that presenation and the use of design is the best way to get a customer. Offereing a free car or other items does not win them over; it simply just buys their bussiness. A company could offer certain deals or benefits; like buy a certain amount and get a free something. Get their attention by your presenation; and then offer a benefit.

Ethics is the motivation based on ideas of right and wrong. Business ethics is a form of applied ethics that examines ethical principles and moral or ethical problems that arise in a business environment. Without ethnics, it would be hard to run a bussiness correctly.

I think the farthest a company can go to win a potiental customer is making themselves avaiable for information at any time possible.

The role of ethnics are to describe the products' features and know how the product works. Because if the customer wants to buy an electronic item and the employees don't even know about the product then that customer might not come back to that specific store again. So I think its very important to a company's sucess. There are many customers that want to know everything about the product before buying the item.

I think the company can go very very far to win over a potential customer. Because there are some people who can make a customer satisfy their needs and wants. Those companies gain more profit than the campanies that don't try to win over the potential customer.

The profession of business ethics needed a highly practical resource that is designed particularly for leaders and managers -- those people charged to ensure ethical practices in their organizations. As a result, leaders and managers struggle to really be able to make use of the resources at all.

If you are planning to infuse strong, ethical principles throughout your company or want to change the culture of your company you need to be faithful to your costumers. The company should go as far as they need to go but need to remain loyal to their costumers and not making up lies about the product that they are trying to sell.

Ethics is really important for businesses because it affects how consumers spend their money and how they see buisnesses. If there was no ethics involved with buisness, then consumers may start to see a buisnesses as the diviant, sneaky, coniving monsters they are. Ethics is a system of rules that aren't really stated that help form a healthy competition instead of turning it into a dirty and bad competition.

I think that buisnesses will go to many lengths to win a consumer over. I believe this is a good way to keep customers interested in what that buisness is selling, but it only works when its an ethical idea. Buisnesses should always make themselves available to the consumers if they hgave questions about the product. They should make their products likeable and enjoyable to the consumer. But its unethical if the buisness lies about their product inorder to sell their product, but there are some buisnesses like that.

Business ethics can play a large role in the business's reputation. If a problem arises within the business and is not settled quickly before word spreads, this can have a great adverse impact on the business. For example, KFC was accused to tormenting their chickens before killing them. KFC did not take action quickly, and soon it was all over the news. This impacted the consumer's image of KFC and still draws several away from buying their food.

A company will go the length for any customer to buy their products. But only if the company feels the customer is truely going to buy their product or service. The company will be more willing to go the lengths if a they are selling an especially expensive product or service. This may also be true if the customer will influence others to buy from the company, such as celebrities. I believe the company will even conduct under-the-table deals with potential customers.

Whatever is applied will affect the name, the safety of your company, and also those who are affiliated with your company.

Ethics is important for a business. Ethics is what people go by to be able to look approachable. Future buyers or cutomers of a business wont want to go to a business that seems not interesting. It's like a moral code for the business, something to abide by.

The number one top priority of a business is to win over the customers for them to be able to make money for the business. Customers' satisfaction should be reached in order to feel like they want to buy in the store.
