Global Marketing Blog Entry # 12 (25 points)

Promotion and Soccer

German electronics and engineering company Siemens is know in the United States for domestic appliances.  However, its major businesses worldwide are transportation and communication systems and large power turbines.

Siemens deals mostly with governments and large corporations, not consumers.  The company is huge, with almost $90 billion is sales in 190 countries.

Global Promotion

Siemens is also a cell phone manufacturer in Europe.  To compete with big names Nokia and Motorola, it needs to get the company name in the public eye.

The strategy Siemens has chosen is corporate sponsorship of sports, choosing teams that are extremely popular in its target markets of Europe, Latin America, and Asia.  Siemens is athe major sponsor of the Real Madrid Spanish soccer team.  Soon after the Siemens deal, Real signed two soccer superstars, Brazilian Ronaldo and Englishman Beckham.  Once the Siemens logo was on the jerseys of the team, Siemens's share of the cell phone market tripled in Latin America.  The effect was strongest in Brazil.

In a two paragraph response (a minimum of 5 sentences for each paragraph), answer the following questions.  In paragraph # 1, what effects on its engineering business could come from Siemens being more visible in consumer markets?  In paragraph # 2, discuss Siemen's marketing strategy to boost its cell phone sales in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.  Do you like what they have done?  Why or why not?  Is there another strategy that you think could add to their already strong presence in consumer markets?

When siemens is more visible in peoples eyes people are more likely to buy that phone when ever they buy new phone. If the people don’t care about what kind of phone they get they will probably buy the phone with their favorite team or player on it. They will also be able to show their ads during the game. When they are showing a big game millions of people are watching around the world.

Yes I do like what they have done. And they also got lucky with Rolando and Beckham. Because they chose the beigest sport in the world and marketed it on the largest market of the world “EU”. They can also sponsor more sports or race cars or any thing widely viewed in most part of the world.

If shoppers were to respond well to the sales tactics I would present this product. If consumers approved of this product and gave it good reviews it would give reason to present it. That's because you don't present horrible ideas or items. Consumers would have to be big about the new features and willing to overlook the higher prices. Seimen's tactics would have to go to the bank.
The marketing strategy is brilliant. Not only does it give Seimen something not every company has, but it advances beyond big name companies. They brought in big people to talk for them, and people trust them more than just a comapany. This is probably the best tactic, except maybe next time focus on the services of the phone and not just whose selling it.

The more people that know about the product the better. You never know what important business man is using your product that could eventually help you out. Also, the general public could start using their engineering products instead of the leading brand. Most people will buy the product that is the trendiest. Any one who loves soccer or a certain soccer player will buy this phone.

EVen though it's kind of irrelevant to the phone and it's product, it was a smart move for Siemens. Popular people will always have people following their trend, and soccer players are no exception. Since they got lucky with two famous soccer players, Siemens might also be able to sign up with other famous atheletes that are seeing the business side of the deal.

Whenever a product is forced into the public eye, more people are going to buy it. This is the case with Siemens. Because of Siemens' brand name on professional soccer in Europe, more people are familiar with it. Which in turn sells more Siemens product. Siemens has benefited greatly because of its smart advertising strategies.

I do like what Siemens has done to promote themselves. They have taking two of the most recognizable poeple in sports, Ronaldo and Beckham, and put their brand on them. This means that whenever there is a big soccer game, people cant help but see the Siemens brand. One thing that I would like them to do more is to try to advertise more on the western hemisphere to compliment their success on the eastern hemisphere

If Siemens became more visual in the US it would sell more electronics. If people see the brand on a popluar or favorite sports team, poeple will pay more attention to the brand. Also if they belong to a sports team they automatically earn that sports team reputation (could be good or bad) without having to form one of their own. Also since the company already has services and business overseas it only encourages consumers of how good a business they are.

Yes i think it was a brilliant plan to boost there sales. Not many other companies sponsor a sports team (because their a limited few), plus ones that have superstars on them. So those put together worked perfectly for business advertisement. Since they already have to big name stars where there name they may be able to get other sports teams (besides another soccer team) to support the company as well.

If Siemens is more visible to the public eye than the demand increases. If the demand increases, then the manufacturing increases. Which then creates more jobs and profits. The company would have to race to meet the supply and demand deadline. Also the company expands significantly in many places of the world.

I think their strategy was absolutly brilliant. Choosing the two most liked players in the soccer league was a good investment. There isnt much the Siemens can do to improve their strategy because if they overdue promotion, the are of risk incrases. Too much expectations is not good for any company because that company may not live up to it.

Siemens is the visible in the consumers markets because they advertise their products with popular athletes. The consmuers would purchase the siemens phones before others just because they see their favorite people on it or something. They don't worry about makeing the best product or beating other companies with better things.
I think they are very smart with thier advertising stragety. I do like what they did with that but, If they cared about the products as much as the advertizing they would probebly get more costomers. Costomers might buy thier products once but they might not buy it again.

Siemens expanded its company from an engineering company to a cell phone company, then started sponsoring popular soccer teams. The company has really evovled, because now it has almost $90 billion sales in 190 countries. In order to get Siemens in the public eye is to get creative and come up with new phones that the company's like Nokia and Motorola don't have. You have to know what customers are interested in before you can do anything drastic.

To globally promote their company, Siemens strategy was to sponsor popular European soccer teams. They are a major sponsor of Real Madrid, and once Real signed two major soccer players more people started paying more attention to Siemens. This is because the company's logo was on the teams' jerseys. I like what they have done because thats the first thing i noticed when I was watching Real Madrid play, because it was a big logo on the front of the jersey. Another strategy they could use is possibly has a logo on their warm-ups and bags to promote even more.

If many people are aware and of a product the more successful chance of your business, over a long time. It is also important to colaborate your ideas with many different groups, because then you will get many views and opinions on your product. Instead of consumers just buying the leading brand. They could make there own brand, and attract new buyers who either need or want the product they would supply. the consumers are usually attracted to the product which has many uses and is a high buy in that day in time. The advertising and marketing of the soccer player in the phone will attract soccer views and or fans to buy the certain phone because it has there favorite player or team in the advertisement.

Yes, i do think what Siemens has done to get there product out there is a spectacular marketing strategy. They have pictures of two of the leading soccer players in the game currently. Which will currently make a high percentage of the people attracted to this product be soccer lovers. This is a plus for siemens company because during commercials going on during time outs or commercial breaks of those players in the advertisements, will attract more sum of buyers who are flicking through channels or who are just focused on watching soccer. It would be smart none the less,if siemens wants to expand there products toward the western hemisphere and attract more people then just people in the eastern part of the world. This would drasticly raise the amount of buyers and money made toward the company.

Since, Americans follow the latest things in the market so of course they will buy this product because of their stategies. As long as they have the strategys like sports available they will want to buy. So then the costumers can show the progress the market is having. That way the market will know their strategy of sports is working. Therefore, they will have success if the process works.

Yes, the strategy is a very good one because most likely they will get more people because of sports being popular. Sports, all around the world is very watched by all ages. Therefore, during games and such, they will bhave promotions available for them to see. Also, with Beckham and Ronaldo, who are probably the most popular in the soccer industry will definitly cause viewers to want to buy the phones.

I think they should produce more cell phones, and electronic devices, such as MP3 players, TVs, DVD players, etc. to make themselves more popular throughout the world, and make the public know more about them. I think that's a huge opportunity that they are missing, and should take advantage of.

Siemens chose a very effective way to promote themselves, because soccer is very popular in the whole world, and Real Madrid is probably one of the top 5 teams, so a lot of people like them, and buy their jerseys. And of course, the jerseys have all the sponsors on them, and even if they don't know what sponsor it is, they can look it up online or in stores, and buy those products that are promoted on the jerseys. It makes fans think that it's a great product if it sponsors their favorite team, so they want to buy it. I really like this strategy that they used, because it's very affective. I can't really think of anything that could be more affective than this...

Whenever you force a product into the product then people most likely will buy it. This is a good thing for the corporations because they make more profit. This is the case with the company Siemens. If they don't care about the make of the phone, they will probably just buy it with their favorite player or team on it.They will also be able to display their ads on the television which is extra promotion.
Their marketing strategy was brilliant because they chose soccer which is super popular. Especially in the "EU". I do like what they've done because they have chosen the most popular teams and players. Another Strategy the could use would be to expand their promotion to different strategies.

Since Siemens is more visible in consumer markets, he is able to get more busieness. When he gets his name known people will come to him and buy his products or services. He was smart for sponsoring the Real Madrid Spanish soccer team and signing two soccer stars. By doing this he was able to put his logo on their jerseys and many people who saw it chose to use it.

To boost cell phone sales in Europe, Latin America, and Asia he spread his company's name throughout the country. He did this by using a popular sport for advertising. Since soccer is a popular sport in these countries many people trusted his product. The cell phone market in Latin America was the highest because soccer is more popular in that country than in any other of the countries.

I think anything that has to do with your favorite team you would buy. You would buy it as a necessity and you would get it cause of your likes in the team. If the product is good and alot of people have it the company will go up.I aslo think its a great idea with what theyre doing by getting ronaldo and beckam.
As in for latin america having ronlado and beckam people there will buy because evryone is into soccer. And of course it will be big in Brazil because soccer is Brazil you can say. Brazils has one of the best soccer teams and having somethin to do with soccer i know people will buy.

It is an excellent way to stimulate the economy. The manufacturing in the industrie increases by alot. This also creates a jobs for people internationally. If more people see the brand name on famous soccer players is a good idea. Also, supply and demand increases majorily.

Investing into two of the most respected soccer players was a good investment. I like this strategy because the statistics speak for thmeselves. I think it would to be risky trying to expand this business more. It's better for the business to keep a steady pace and become more stable. The chances of risk are extremely high, suppose the two teams have a bad season and no one supports Siemen anymore.

the engeineering business is a global business. this can help any major company in this case Seimens. The world wide aspect of it helps there name get passed around from coperate buidling and government buldings which can increase sales and tremendously. This is only if they have a good reputation if it was poor they could drop fast. With seimens growth in the coperate world there product naturally grows within consumer markets.l

Seimens marketing stratgie in south america and asia and europe was a veyr smart move. They first did reasearch and see what people responded to the most and what ment the most in this case Soccer. In those areas people are very passionate about there teams and support them in anyway possible. and when sponsering there start players and teams the people naturally want to buy there product because they support there team. I like what theyve done and was a very smart move. A nother possible idea would be to trie and sponser a country team for the up coming olympics to help further boost sales.

The effects on the engineering business that could come from Siemens being more visible in consumer markets could be that they will improve their phones overall. They might have pressure to make them look and do things more popular phones can do.

I also think this was a great way to make their brand more popular. Athletes have a huge influence on the public and when a fan sees one of their favorite athlete's with a Siemens phone, they are going to want to buy one as well. I think that they were very smart to market their product the way they did. They could've also made a commercial with the two major soccer players in it. This would, in my opinion, attract more people than having the logo on the jerseys. The television is the highest medium out in the public right now.

because Siemens has become more popular in the United States it will sell more products. If people see the brand on a popluar or favorite sports team, they will remember the name and like it. So when they go to buy a new phone they will buy Siemens phones. since they sponser certain sports team they will most likley be remebered by that team.

I think their stratgey was really smart. It was a good way to get their name out there in the public, so the public can become fimilar with it. There startgey worked in Latin Ameerica becasue of how big soccer is there. They had a target market and had good promtional ideas, which led them to sucess. the only thing i though was odd is that the phone has nothing to do with soccer, it is not promting the phone based on how good the phone is it is just saying buy this phone becasue real madrid is sponsered by it.

The effects on siemens business can try to come up with new ideas and make new technology since they are one of the leading brand in Germany and other popular countrys. The company can come with huge sales and probabilly come up with more then $90 billion dollers.
I do like their idea of how they boost their cell phone stategy in Asia, Latin America, and Europe. I like their idea because it boost their sales and i wouldn't have done better. This is why I like their idea of how they boost their cell phone strategy.

Some effects on engineering business could come from Siemens being more visible in consumer markets because they are more popular. If the get soccer teams to show there logo than that earns them more people. From that other people start to see that, that person has that phone so why dont i get it too. The more popular the comapny is the more people recognize it an the more business you will do.
Siemen's marketing strategy to boost its cell phone sales in Europe, Latin America, and Asia is to find out what sports people like and to have popular teams wear there logo. I like what they have done. It has made there company more popular and thats all that really matters. They found what people pay attention to most an used it to there advantage and had those sports represent there company.

Becoming more visible people are going to want it more. They are going to want to be caught with the new not the old. Using someone who people know of is going to grab way may attention then just someone famous. The people are going to want to be like him.

Yes I do like what they have done. Everyone knows who Rolando and Beckham are. By choosing a famous sport in the world and use it to market grabs everyones attention.

If Siemens was to spread out more to different continents and countries, a lot more people would start to pay attention. Especially if their brand name is on a well-known soccer team. That will get customers attention easier. People usually buy more of a product when it's advertised with a famous group of people, or a person that they like.

I do like what they have done, because it will be advertised to a large group of people. I don't have a problem of how they advertised their product. But it doesn't really have anything to do with phones. But I do think it's a very good idea. They should also try different Europe teams, not just soccer.
